How to Start a Website
Let's talk numbers here. You can easily build a quality, contemporary site on the cheap, but watch out for those sites promising that you'll be able to drag and drop or that what you see is what you get (wysiwyg) is what you want! Believe me, you'll be severely limited with what they offer, you'll need to upgrade your service to a higher monthly fee, and then you'll probably need to hire thier conveniently available professional designers who charge nearly $500 dollars to do it right!
Don't be Fooled - Never Pay More than $7.00 a Month for Your Site
Websites are never free. If they say they are, they either have ads or they are severely limited. But they are cheap! The only thing we all have to pay for, unfortunately, is web hosting. It runs anywhere from 4-10 dollars a month and it should come with a free domain, free emails, free site builder, as well as unlimited additional domains (so if you ever wanted another website, you'd just pay $10/year for the domain registration and you wouldn't have to pay for hosting again).
Learn the Game -- It's Easier than you Think!
Take an hour to learn the free software that's out there and you'll have full control of your site forever! The site editing software is free these days. You don't need to pay $600 for Dreamweaver. The same goes for image editing. There's tons of free stuff out there so you don't need to buy photoshop for $699. You can get the same quality for free!
How to Get Started...
The best way to get going is to get hosting and use their online tools. I've been using Bluehost for years and they've been great. They've got all the bells and whistles and they actually answer the phone! ...which is unheard of in the industry. Or you can go back to SitesAreEasy.com and follow all the free lessons. Good luck, future webmaster!
